Caminho da Mata Atlântica
The “Atlantic Forest Way” links two state parks — Pedra Azul and Forno Grande — through the high-altitude Atlantic Forest of Espírito Santo.
Developed by Turismo 360 with support from the Espírito Santo state government and Sebrae, the route runs through Domingos Martins, Vargem Alta and Castelo, bringing together nature reserves, trails, producers and local kitchens.
ECOA is the route’s inbound agency and leads experiences all along the way, with the sensitivity of people who live in these mountains.
What you’ll find along the way
Pedra Azul
The granite monolith, some 1,822 m high, emblem of the Capixaba Mountains, and the natural pools along its trail.
Forno Grande
Mountain trails, a waterfall, a cave and amber-coloured pools in Forno Grande State Park.
Atlantic Forest reserves
The Kaetés RPPN, with the largest nature observation tower in the Atlantic Forest, and the Águia Branca Environmental Reserve, with more than 2,200 protected hectares.
Rare birds and flavours
Birds such as the saffron toucanet and the cherry-throated tanager, chef Ricardo’s seasonal cooking and strawberry picking at Empório do Morango.
